New local bread making course starts November 5th

Making Bread at home: Four sessions for only £5 (to cover materials) - maximum four people only

Making good bread at home does not need the sophisticated equipment of a bakery. This practical course introduces simple techniques to produce many different types of bread by hand in an enjoyable informal atmosphere using the simple facilities of the home.

It covers some theory of the process and participants will emerge with a working knowledge of everything from equipment, ingredients and processes to washing up techniques, having baked and, hopefully enjoyed, their own bread along the way.

The course will involve work at home after each 2 hour session as the making of bread is a lengthy process! Participants should be warned that stairs are involved to reach our kitchen and that the process is quite energetic.

Venue: 38 London Road, Canterbury CT2 8LN.

Contact: Jonathan Butchers (01227 479300) or jonathan.butchers@gmail.com if you want to participate.

Dates: Saturdays 5th – 26th November, 2011, 1030 – 1230, plus your own time afterwards! Just bring a 9” mixing bowl and the fiver. Recipes will be provided.
